This is a list of Scripture passages that support the Calvinist doctrine of Total Depravity.
Our Heart, Mind, and Nature are Corrupt
Genesis 6:5, 8:21
The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that ”’every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually”’.
And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for ”’the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth”’. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done.
Psalm 5:8-9
8 Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me. 9 For there is no truth in their mouth; ”’their inmost self is destruction”’; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.
Ecclesiastes 9:3
This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that the same event happens to all. Also, ”’the hearts of the children of man are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live”’, and after that they go to the dead.
Jeremiah 10:7-8, 14
7 Who would not fear you, O King of the nations? For this is your due; for ”’among all the wise ones”’ of the nations and in all their kingdoms there is none like you. 8 ”’They are both stupid and foolish”’; the instruction of idols is but wood! … 14 ”’Every man is stupid and without knowledge”’; every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols, for his images are false, and there is no breath in them.
Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.

21 For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
Romans 1:28-31
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to ”’a debased mind”’ to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
Ephesians 4:17-18
17 Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in ”’the futility of their minds. 18 They are darkened in their understanding”’, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.
Titus 1:15-16
To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but ”’both their minds and their consciences are defiled”’. 16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.
We Are “Slaves” to Sin
John 8:34
Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a ”’slave to sin”’.
Romans 6:6, 16, 17, 19, 20
6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be ”’enslaved to sin”’. … 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are ”’slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin”’, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God, that you who were once ”’slaves of sin”’ have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, … 19 I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as ”’slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness”’, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification. 20 For when you were ”’slaves of sin”’, you were free in regard to righteousness.
Romans 7:14
For we know that the law is spiritual, ”’but I am of the flesh, sold under sin”’.
Galatians 4:8-9
8 Formerly, when you did not know God, ”’you were enslaved to those that by nature are not gods”’. 9 But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world, whose slaves you want to be once more?
2 Timothy 2:25-26
25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being ”’captured by him to do his will”’.

John 8:44
”’You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires”’. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Romans 1:24-27
24 Therefore God gave them up in ”’the lusts of their hearts”’ to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to ”’dishonorable passions”’. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Ephesians 2:3
among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
Our Nature Is Completely Corrupt

Titus 1:15-16
15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.
We Do Not and Cannot Choose Good or Please God

6:5 The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that ”’every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually”’. … 8:21 And when the Lord smelled the pleasing aroma, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for ”’the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth”’. 18 For ”’the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing”’, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. … 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, ”’the world did not know God through wisdom”’, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. 22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified, ”’a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles”’, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
